HOW TO: The Pencil Case Makeup Kit

Hiya, guys!

By now you've seen my most recent makeup kit. I'm fully aware that it's an obscene amount of makeup for someone like me who probably uses around five or six makeup items at any given time.

What's a girl to do? Downsize it.

But how low can you get? Or should I say how small should I get?

The answer when you click 'Read More.'

As small as a pencil case!

I got this pencil case at SM, and this used to hold my oral care stuff (toothbrush, toothpaste, foldable cup, floss picks). Now that I'm working from home once again, I don't have anything else to do with the pencil case.

I know, it's pretty big for a pencil case (I've seen pencil cases smaller than this one), but nevertheless much smaller than the bag organizer where I stuff all my makeup and other things down there. It's like a blackhole in my bag!

So what's inside my downsized makeup kit? Well, all of the makeup here is already in my big makeup kit (see here and here), so I basically transferred my 'super-essentials in the pencil case. But just to list them down, here it goes:

1. Face Primer

I don't always need a face primer, but when I do (ie. when I want my face makeup to last a bit longer), I reach for this Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser. And as I have mentioned in my previous post, it does more than priming my face. #lifehack

2. Face Powder

What's a makeup kit for an oily-skinned gal like me without powder, right? In here is my go-to powder, the Maybelline Clear Smooth All-in-One Shine Free Cake Powder in 05 Sand Beige.

3. Blush

On days that I can wear blush (ie. when I don't have pimples or clogged pores, see this post), I use my trusty Natasha Beauty Secondskin Blush in Coralcruise.

4. Concealer

The Maybelline powder provides light coverage, so on days when I need more coverage (ie. dark circles, pimple marks), I reach for this concealer -- the SanSan HD Concealer.

5. Brow Pencil

Because brows, in my opinion, can spell a world of difference on your face and on your overall makeup look. I have here my trusty FS Cosmetics Eye Pencil in Dark Brown, but once it hits the end I plan to replace it with something that has a spoolie on the end so that I don't have to carry a separate brow brush with me.

6. Mascara

Ah, the benefits of a tiny mascara like Etude House Oh M'eye Lash Slimcara -- it has everything I need in a mascara without the bulk of its counterparts.

7. Lash Curler (not in photo, again)

Again, what's mascara its partner, right? And as much as I could put in here the more compact plastic lash curler, I still like how metal lash curlers like the FS Cosmetics Lash Curler works its magic into my lashes. And it does fit into my pencil case makeup kit despite its size, so I don't really mind.

OOT: Why do I always forget my lash curlers during makeup kit shoots these days? Sigh.

8. Eyeliner

I have two inside the makeup kit at the moment -- the Natasha Beauty Glamfix Eyeliner in Capuccino (for days when I want a more natural eye look) and the Bobbie Cosmetics Eye Love It Ultra Fine Point Liquid Eyeliner (for days when I want a more intense eye look but not necessarily a smokey eye or a cat eye look).

9. Lip Balm

Even when I'm wearing a matte lip product (we'll get to that later) I always, always apply lip balm. So much that my ChapStick Lip Balm in Spearmint is a permanent fixture in my makeup kit, big or small.

10. Lip Liner

I still love lip colors but because I find myself reaching for Ever Bilena Lip Liner in Capuccino more often, I have this now in my downsized makeup kit. In fact, the reason why I decided to downsize my makeup kit is because I no longer need to bring lots of lip colors with me.

11. Hand Cream

I'm not the biggest fan of applying lotion on any part of my body, most especially on my hands; but lately I've been wanting to moisturize my hands. I have here the Nivea Creme, and it does a great job in moisturizing my hands.

12. Alcohol

I need to 'wash' my hands but a washing sink is out of sight. What to do? Get some alcohol or hand sanitizer! In my case, I have a pen-sized spray bottle of Casino Femme Ethyl Alcohol handy with me just in case.

And that's my pencil case makeup kit. Besides the tools such as lash curler, powder brush and brow brush, pretty much everything I need is inside this case.  This kit still has room for improvement, like I still need a retractable powder brush to use for powder and blush. Also, like I have mentioned I plan to change my brow product into something that needs no tools -- maybe a brow mascara or a brow pencil with a spoolie on the other end.

Still, I hope this post helps you out in putting together your own makeup kit. Do leave your comments for your thoughts about this one. Until the next post!
