[REVIEW] NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cashmere and Rocky Mountain Green

Hiya guys!

Today I'm gonna review the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils in Cashmere and Rocky Mountain Green.

note: photos taken on separate days

From NYX Cosmetics website:
A radiant eye liner that also doubles as an eye shadow. Made with a blend of mineral oil and powder, our creamy Jumbo Eye Pencils glide on effortlessly—no pulling, tugging or fading—and come in a rainbow of vivid hues. Some call her chubby. We say voluptuous.
Ever since I saw this product in some reseller sites, I became curious about it -- how can a big pencil like this be applied to the eyes when it's too big to be called a liner?

Turns out, it's more than a liner -- it's also an eyeshadow-on-a-pinch and, in the case of the Cashmere shade, a base eyeshadow color.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil is an oversized eye pencil with an equally oversized 'lead' AKA the center part of the pencil where much of the product is placed. It has a clear plastic cap which protects the lead from damage when keeping it in your makeup kit.

Cashmere is a light champagne gold shade that is more on the shimmery side, as you can see in the color swatches and with the look I made using this shade (see photo below). I love that it's shimmery but not too sparkly, as some shimmer eye colors tend to be; and the color compliments my medium-deep skin tone perfectly.

The shade is perfect as a base color and for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes and the lower waterline. I personally use this shade on its own paired with brown eyeliner for a little upgrade on my basic work+school makeup look (again, see photo below). On one occasion, I used it as eyeshadow base -- I applied powder eyeshadow in a similar color over it and then contoured the outer V with a darker brown shadow color.

Rocky Mountain Green, on the other hand, is a vivid emerald green shade with a little shimmer. Like the Champagne shade, I like that it's shimmery without being overly sparkly. I also think that the shimmer adds dimension to the already vivid green color which is already gorgeous in itself (though methinks that when this shade comes in matte, it would have looked flat -- much like putting on a strip of a plant leaf over your eyes. Hahaha!)

It's perfect for adding some pop of color along your upper lashline, or even on your lid just under the crease. And with its pencil shape, you can even add color on your outer V -- just don't forget to blend!

look using the Rocky Mountain Green shade
It stays for a good 4-5 hours, and even beyond that the color is still visible albeit a little faded, especially with the Rocky Mountain Green shade. However, given my oily lids, it creases after a few hours when used on its own, but it can easily be remedied by either touching it up (adding a few more and then blending it out) or apply a similar-colored powder eyeshadow over it, or applying an eyeshadow base/primer before putting this on.

Overall, it's a really good eye product; so much that I want more colors of this NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil!
