#ThrowbackThursday: Where Are You in Toon Town?

Hiya guys!

Last week, I blogged about the yearly Halloween party in my previous company where I dressed up as Mulan during my last year there. This time around, I'm gonna do a throwback on the same party, but a year before that.

The theme for Halloween 2012 was all about cartoons, which was a more general one unlike last year where we did a Disney theme. So a variety of characters came out from our officemates -- Powerpuff Girls, South Park, Flintstones, Looney Tunes...

But guess the character I dressed up as?

Find out the answer when you click "Read More"

I'm Daphne Blake of Scooby-Doo!

When the theme for that year's Halloween party was agreed upon, I suddenly remembered the purple dress that I already have in my closet -- which was actually my mom's party dress which I 'smuggled' from her when I needed a dress for a friend's wedding years back. And I remember one cartoon character that rocks a purple dress well...

But pulling off this trick can be quite a challenge, primarily because the details that complete the look are pretty hard to find. I'm talking about that lime green scarf that Daphne is wearing, which I could not find in any store prior to this dress up event (buying a similar-colored cloth from a fabric store was not an option that time). That is why I decided to go for a printed yellow scarf and tied it the way Daphne did in the cartoons.

As for the hair and makeup, I tied my hair into a bun the morning before the event. Then I did my makeup -- exaggerated eyeliner and the rest of the face neutral -- before letting go of the bun to reveal the curls. Though in the photos above the curls have already died down -- should have put on some hairspray to hold it longer.

But I really like the way the eyeliner was done -- I mean I never thought I could do the cat-eye look that well. To think that I'm not the kind who has a hand that is steady enough to make a straight line. And days after the party, I can't stop raving about my *decent* eyeliner skills. (ehem, ehem!)

Here's the original Daphne. Do I look a bit like her? Photo credit here
I really, really enjoy dress-up, doll-up moments like this one. Again, I'm looking forward for more opportunities like this so I could, um, master my dress-up skills. *wink wink*
